Covid-19

We have set up this page to collate all information and current guidance shared about our response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Since 1 April, routine testing has no longer been expected in education settings. This is part of the government’s plan to remove remaining restrictions on society while protecting the most vulnerable from COVID-19.

We are continuing to review what makes Stratford School Academy as safe as possible for our students, staff and families during this time by using this guidance as well as advice from our local Public Health teams. We are very grateful for your support over the last two years, and we are very proud of the way students have conducted themselves during this difficult time.

At present, the following points are the main clarifications and considerations:

Reduce the risk of catching and spreading COVID-19:

  • Get vaccinated

  • Let fresh air in if meeting indoors, or meet outside

  • Reinforce good hygiene practices such as hand washing and cleaning.

Face coverings

The requirement for students to wear face coverings in schools was removed some time ago. At SSA we have adopted a very flexible approach to those students who wished to continue wearing them. However, we will now require a medical note to explain the reason why if your child needs to continue to wear a face covering.

Testing and Self-Isolation

Current Covid-19 measures, including access to free testing, came to an end on 31st March as part of the government’s ‘Living with Covid’ strategy. However, the guidance still states that: ‘Children and young people who are unwell and have a high temperature should stay at home and avoid contact with other people, where they can. They can go back to school, college or childcare when they no longer have a high temperature, and they are well enough to attend.’

Please contact the school in the usual way to report a student absence and state that it is an isolation due to Covid 19.
