Each day in October we will be finding out about Black History that is less well known.  Often Black History focusses on a few key individuals…we hope that this October everyone can learn something that they didn’t already know.

Betty Campbell MBE

On Wednesday 29th September 2021 the Welsh Government unveiled the first ever statue of a Black woman in Wales.

Betty Campbell became the first Black head of a school in Wales, and turned Mount Stuart Primary School into an outstanding school that pioneered equality and inclusion.

When in secondary school, Betty was told that her ambition to become a school leader was too ambitious because of her ethnicity.  We’re all glad she proved her teachers wrong!
