On 22nd April, our Year 8 students were immersed in the vibrant sounds and movements of Southern Africa through a dynamic performance by the Uzambezi Arts Ensemble. Known for their rich heritage in Southern African music and dance, Uzambezi Arts brought an authentic cultural experience to our school.

The ensemble, comprising seasoned artists with over 20 years of experience, specializes in songs, dances, drumming, storytelling, and educational outreach. Their performances have graced prestigious venues worldwide, including the Royal Festival Hall in London and the Liverpool Philharmonic Hall.

During the session, students participated actively by joining in the drumming rhythms and learning traditional African dance steps. This hands-on approach provided them with a deeper appreciation for African culture and the universal language of music and movement.

"That was so much fun! I loved getting to try the drumming and learning the dance moves. It was really cool, I’d love to do it again!"
