Jack Petchey Regional Final Success
A huge well done to Mohammed Yaseen A from the Upton Lane site, who represented both himself and the school brilliantly at the Jack Petchey Regional Final, held at Royal Docks Academy.
The Jack Petchey Speak Out Challenge is a prestigious public speaking programme that aims to build confidence, communication skills, and self-expression among young people. After progressing through earlier rounds, Yaseen earned his place in the Regional Final—an impressive achievement in itself.
On the day, Yaseen delivered an engaging and heartfelt speech on the impact of Islamophobia. His confidence, clarity, and passion for the topic were evident throughout, and he spoke with maturity and conviction. It was clear how much the support from the audience meant to him, helping him deliver such a powerful performance. A big thank you also goes to Nadirah and Reetica for attending and supporting on the day.
The standard of competition was exceptionally high, with many talented speakers presenting on a wide range of thought-provoking topics. The Regional Champion title was ultimately awarded to a student from Sarah Bonnell School. However, Yaseen’s achievement should not be understated—reaching the final as one of just 14 students from a pool of over 1,300 competitors is a truly outstanding accomplishment.
We are incredibly proud of Yaseen for his dedication, courage, and the way he represented our school. He should take great pride in his success.
